Mulberry Silk Jersey T Shirt
a sensuous fabric with a beautiful drape
This shift has short sleeves and hangs beautifully from the shoulders to the hips.
The silky feel of the fabric maintains your body temperature.
It is a wonderful traveller as it folds small and is easy to wash and dry.
Mulberry Silk Jersey
The silk is knitted which gives it a natural stretch and moulds the body beautifully.
The silk worms feed on mulberry leaves which gives this silk its name.
When I was growing up in Zambia me and my friends all had silk worms. We used to feed them on the mulberry leaves, and ourselves on the luscious berries.
We witnessed their whole cycle from cocoon to moth. Once the moths had flown away we kept their empty cocoons and wound them onto reels.
- Silk provides a breathable, yet insulating barrier between yourself and the surrounding temperature, which can keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
- Silk bedding and silk pillowcases can significantly improve allergy symptoms due to hypoallergenic qualities of the material. The structure of the material means that it’s harder for dust mites to breed and for allergens to irritate.
- This natural attribute can be compromised by colouring it with synthetic dyes, which I do not use.
- Silk production is free of harmful chemicals and pesticides
