TRAVELLING LITE
- PATTERNING THE LANDSCAPE SONG ON FABRIC AND PAPER -
I live in the South Island of New Zealand
in an adobe mud brick house
nestled in Lud Valley, 15 kilometres out of Nelson.
I colour natural fabrics with plants, windfalls and weeds
from our food forest, permaculture garden and sustainable sources.
Handmade linen paper is made from discarded waste from
the making process and transformed into art works.
I aspire to making clothing and accessories
that give long lasting comfort and pleasure.
memories of a life
the feel of rain and sun,
night and day
are held in every fibre of the fabric
Natural dyeing
I use sustainable fabrics
and dye them naturally with plants
to create beautiful colours and prints
kind to your skin and the earth
PaperWork
I am lucky enough to own a ‘critter’ made by Mark Lander which enables me to turn my waste fabric into paper.
I make a variety of artworks and products from the paper and also hold paper making workshops a couple of times a year
managing Waste
The waste from every fabric used is given a second chance to be artwork or accessory.
sustainable fabric
I source fabrics that are not processed around the world and seek out second hand treasures.
locally made
All products are dyed with
plants and lovingly handmade in Nelson, New Zealand.
